Civil Rights Movement

Rationale:
Teaching students about the Civil Rights Movement provides them with unique opportunities for inquiry into social justice topics. Moreover, it allows students to engage in sophisticated conversations that will help with their understanding of world. Through lessons on the Civil Rights Movement, I hope that my students will have growth in their concern for others and for the world. With this said, as I implement my lessons, I start with activating students' prior knowledge and move towards critical discussions.

In my next few posts I will include lessons I have written about the Civil Rights Movement. I have used a number of websites in the writing of my lessons, some of which can be found on the right side of the page.

I highly reccommend Teaching Tolerance for planning lessons on the Civil Rights Movement or any social justice topic.
